Brief Description

Hot Shot Rectifier for Lithium-Ion Battery, Universal

Details

The reason so many batteries fail or melt down on the 600cc or 1000cc motorcycle engines is because the factory charging systems can put out too much or not enough voltage when charging the battery. Stock factory rectifiers vary greatly on the charging voltage output. The Hot Shot Rectifier for Lithium-Ion Batteries uses MOSFET technology to achieve a constant charging voltage set point of 14V +/-.2.

MOSFETs (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) are semiconductor switches which act to control the flow of electrical current. The design relies on a switching mechanism that provides a more precise control than other models, particularly in low-power applications like motorcycles due to its quicker switching capabilities. This in turn produces less heat as less energy is lost through the switching process. The result is a part that runs cooler and more efficiently improving engine performance and a more reliable unit due to the cooler running condition creating less stress to the internal electronics.

This Hot Shot Rectifier for Lithium-Ion Battery, Universal will work on any of the major motorcycle engines that use a lithium-ion battery. Not for use with standard lead acid batteries. For lead acid batteries, use part numbers 609-002 or 609-0021.

609-001 Hot Shot Rectifier for Lithium-Ion Battery, Universal includes:
  • rectifier with 5 wires: 3 stator wires, and 2 wires that go directly to the battery
609-001 Hot Shot Rectifier for Lithium-Ion Battery, Universal does not include the sealed connector kit used to attach the rectifier to the stator, or the battery connectors.

Order part number 609-003 to purchase the sealed connector kit separately, or choose part number 609-0011 Hot Shot Rectifier for the Lithium-Ion Battery with Sealed Connector, which includes battery and stator connectors already crimped on the rectifier.

Some users may want to install the unsealed factory style connector for their engine. While this is not recommended, because it is unsealed, it does have the advantage of being able to clip right in to the factory engine side connector.
